Action Plan
a “to-do list” of five action steps
These action steps have been developed in response to current efforts to amend the Minnesota Constitution so as to ban civil marriage for same-sex couples. We believe that such an amendment is an attack on LGBT couples and families who simply want the same rights and protections that are available to all other Minnesotans. Equal protection of the law should apply to everyone – regardless of sexual orientation.

We believe that no family is “defended” and no one’s life is improved when same-sex couples are denied the right to marry. Same-sex marriage harms no one, but would benefit thousands of LGBT Minnesotans and their children.

We call upon you to join us in taking the following action steps. By doing so you will be joining the growing number of Catholics who, called by the Gospel message and our Church's teaching on justice and human rights, are making their voices heard and advocating for civil marriage for all.
1) Read and then sign the Statement of Support for Marriage Equality.
Please know that although you’ll be asked to provide your name, mailing address, and email, only your name, city, and ZIP code will ever published. Please be assured that none of your personal information – including your email address – will ever be shared with a third party. Supplying your e-mail address when signing the Statement of Support will be, however, your way of letting us know that you are willing to receive occasional future e-mail alerts and announcements from Catholics for Marriage Equality MN.
2) Arrange for a Catholics for Marriage Equality MN presentation for members of your parish or other church or community group with which you are affiliated
No group is too small for such a presentation. Just be or find someone willing to invite and host a group of your parishioners, friends and/or neighbors; and Catholics for Marriage Equality MN will do the rest! Part of our presentation includes sharing a number of short but powerful video vignettes in which local LGBT Catholic couples and families – both straight and gay – share their stories and what marriage equality means for them. Contact C4ME at info.c4me@gmail.com or phone 612-201-4534 to arrange.
3) Make a tax-deductible financial contribution to Catholics for Marriage Equality MN

This is a case where you may want to delve into some of the theological issues discussed in the Tips document.

5) Send an email describing these 5 Steps to others!
Don’t stop with your own completion of the above 4 steps but pass on your own good energy and effort to others whom you feel would be willing to help. The opposition is extremely well funded and has a huge number of volunteers. Let’s spread the word far and wide that Catholics support marriage equality! All you need to do is add a few words of greeting and introduction in your email and then either copy and paste the description of the steps above or include a link to this page.
